Parasha Emor: Day 6

Vayikra/Leviticus 24:1-23

"The Name of YHVH like a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe." This simple verse taken from Proverbs 18:10 is a bold statement. If reveal a great deal of the character of, not only the Father, His Name. There is power in the Name of Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey. While the citizens of the Kingdom here on earth may not know how to properly pronounce it, or argue over who may or may not say it, or even if it should ever be uttered, none of this diminishes the  authority and strength of the Name of our Elohim.

Yeshua pointed out that the only sin that is unforgivable is the blasphemy of the Ruach haKodesh. Back in Vayikra 24, Torah teaches us using the Hebrew word for blasphemy—naqab. It means to pierce, perforate, bore, appoint or curse. It is easily assumed the the Israelite woman's son cursed YHVH when in a fight with another Israelite. Yet, it could also be interpreted that the son made a mockery of YHVH's Name by evoking it wrongly or calling upon the Name in a manner that was not appointed for that moment of hatred and anger.

Simply put, piercing or perforating evokes imagery of destruction and death. Not only may the son have cursed the Name, but he may have scorned the Name in such a way so as to proclaim it null, void and dead. Fast-forwarding to Yeshua's statement, each person will be held accountable to vain uses of the Name of the Father, Yeshua and/or the Ruach. Since He is One, these Names cannot be separated into categories or uses based on likes, dislikes, love, hatred, joy and anger. He is One Elohim over all peoples, emotions and aspects of life and death. No man, not even YHVH Himself, can destroy YHVH. Not by words, actions or intents. Yet, to declare Him as non-existent or to wish He was not is a form of blasphemy that could be inferred by both Torah and Yeshua.

This point hits home while pondering the meaning of naqab. There was only One that was pierced for the sake of our iniquities. This same One was perforated for the sake of healing all disease and sickness; he as also bore into by way of nails and thorns and swords for the chastisement for our peace. These were orchestrated by the Father and no man had power to render death to Yeshua unless He willingly allowed it and gave Himself freely to this role. In short, man has no power of YHVH in any form as Spirit or Son. Furthermore, the Name of YHVH is not diminished just because man comprehends it through the form of a Man or the power of His unseen Strength.

Like the Son, the Ruach and Elohim as we understand and know Him, the Name is a part of YHVH that is treated as alive and powerful. It/He cannot die or be shunned to believe it is not alive, active or fully viable to succeed in any scenario desired by YHVH. It is serious to blaspheme the Name as man cannot kill the Name since the Name is the evocation of YHVH. This should give us pause each time we think to utter Elohim's Name or call upon Him. Our tongues have the power of life and death since by it we justified or condemned; but now it is more succinct that the Father takes action accordingly. His Presence is requested or rejected by a simple utterance. We should all be careful verses carefree when we say, call or cry out the Name of YHVH. This caution should be punctuated by faith that the Father hears, will move and exert Himself for the sake of His Name.

Dwell upon Psalm 80:17-19, "Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. Then we shall not turn back from You; revive us, and we will call upon Your name. O YHVH Elohim of hosts, restore us; cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved."
